Dr. Dallen J. Timothy is Professor of Community Resources and Development at Arizona State University (USA), and Senior Sustainability Scientist at the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability. He is also a visiting professor at the American University of Rome graduate school; the University of Girona, Spain, in the European Master of Tourism Management program; Luoyang Normal University, China, Tourism Department; Beijing Union University, Tourism College (China); and Indiana University, Department of Geography. He was previously a visiting professor at the University of Sunderland (UK) and at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia, in the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management. Dr. Timothy is the editor of the Journal of Heritage Tourism and serves on the editorial boards of 20 additional social scientific research journals. He is commissioning editor for the book series Cultural Heritage and Tourism (Routledge) and co-commissioning editor over three book series published by Channel View Publications.
Dr. Timothy has published many books and research articles in top-tier journals on various aspects of cultural heritage, food culture, religious tourism, shopping, geopolitics and human mobility, community-based tourism and empowerment, migration, and globalization. He has worked in various capacities in more than 100 countries and has ongoing research projects in North America, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe and the Middle East on many aspects of tourism and hospitality. He is a frequent media contributor and keynote speaker at international conferences. He is the recipient of the prestigious Roy Wolfe Award from the American Association of Geographers and the Lifetime Achievement Award in Tourism Research from the International Association for Tourism Policy.
